On the Various Uses of Philosophyby Lee Duane FitzSimmonsThere are vast numbers of ways to use philosophy. The most common is to use it to determine day-to-day actions. This highly practical application of philosophy is the one of the main reasons why this field of knowledge is so popular. Even though religion (the righteous cousin of philosophy) often steps in to fulfill this role, there are many times when the simple whims and fancies of basic philosophical notions suffice. This is especially true when an action is performed by group of individuals that belong to numerous religious factions. In such situations, the mention of any type of religious motive is generally not considered to be appropriate. It should also be considered that philosophy can be directly related to the fine arts. Such a link provides for an enormous reservoir of enjoyable contemplation and meditation. When such indulgences are made, the possibility of imagining new creative ideas also becomes far greater. Thus, this use of philosophy is not only very enjoyable but also highly productive as well. By using philosophy in this manner, the creative faculties of empathic reason can also be increased. Therefore, it should be always kept in mind that philosophy is not only a tool that can be used to guide an individual's lifestyle choices but is also a mechanism that can be used to guide an individual's artistic style. Philosophy is the key that has guided the true reason and empathy of humanity throughout the centuries. It is one of the most common aspects of daily life and is also one of its most common treasures. When it is used as a guide for a person's artistic sensibilities as well as a person's lifestyle choices, it can often reveal that these two aspects of human existence are far more similar than one would expect. * * * INDEXHOME * BOOKS * SANCTUARY * BIOGRAPHY JAZZ * SYLVAN * ELECTRONIC * SYMPHONIC * ROCK * REGGAE Copyright 2013 by Lee Fitzsimmons |
