Dream of Solomon by Luca Giordano 1693

LYRICS

And when she dances underneath the moon all her freedom is unveiled, because she casts a shodow of a memory that will ever tell its tale...

Of how a girl became a lady one hot and sultry night, and how she learned the ancient secrets in the glow of candlelight...

But then the dream of Cinderella turned out not to be so real, and then the childhood fancies of her youth had lost their fiery zeal...

So then she drowned herself in sorrow with a need for endless care, and whoever gave these things to her would never quite compare.

Dreams gone and flown away come again some other day. Dreams grown in fantasy come alive for all to see.

Dreams known forever more, always moving ever sure.

Dream away. Far away...

And when she dances to the music that is flowing through her veins, she will never feel no grieving sorrow, she will never feel no grieving pains...

Because the dance can soothe the troubled memories and soothe the tender will, and make the whole world seem so precious while renewing every thrill...

Because with every expectation there's a risk of failure waiting there, and with every pictured vision, blindness threatens what is there..

And with every colour that is brightened the grayness can ensue, but you know that will not stop the dreamer that's looking out into the blue.

Dreams gone and flown away come again some other day. Dreams grown in fantasy come alive for all to see.

Dreams known forever more, ever moving, ever sure.

Dream away. Far away...

Dream through the day, far away... Dream through the night, into the light...

And when you see her dance under the moon, you can feel her restless stare, as it creeps into your conscience and makes its home in there...

So beware to all you seekers who seek to share her dream, for it's a dream that has been shattered and must build itself again...

And all the glory of her motion, and her silhouette so fair, is intoxicating ambrosia that will drown you everywhere...

So if you know all of her secrets, then you'll be forever wise, and the pain that she'll share with you may then finally subside.

Dreams gone and flown away come again some other day. Dreams grown in fantasy come alive for all to see.

Dreams grown forever more, ever moving, ever sure.

Dream away. Far away...

This relaxed Latin groove features a four bar intro that segues into the first verse that is 32 bars in length. The 16 measure chorus that follows adds a triangle and cowbell. The intro is then repeated and the second verse and chorus follow. The bridge adds a wind chime and features a vocal line that uses sustained notes that descend chromatically. The intro, third verse, and final chorus then follow, and then the piece fades out as the lead vocal improvises over the chord changes of the verse.

The lyrics express the constant hope that a new day brings...

Especially when the dreams of yesterday have yet to come true...
