Loops and Swift Horses Are Surer than Lead by Charles Marion Russell 1916

The main section is constructed from a basic riff template that serves as both a melodic and harmonic figure. The twin leads play harmonic lines, while the two rhythm guitars panned in stereo play the lines down an octave, converting to rhythm during the longer tones of the melody. The bass follows the lead lines of the guitars, including the quick grace notes. In the B section, the rhythm guitars go to open chords and a single stereo lead guitar playing double stops enters the mix. In the B section, the bass plays a more groove-oriented line that features some ascending chromatic syncopation. The A and B section repeat and then the C section is presented. For the C section, the kick drum begins playing four on the floor, and the twin leads present an ascending melody that is harmonized in thirds. Just after the first presentation of the C section, the groove drops to half-time and a quick solo section ensues. The track then repeats the three sections and comes to an end.

The track is a mixture of Southern rock with the more funk-based rock of the early to mid-seventies.
