Twin acoustic rhythm guitars and a mellow vocal introduce the primary lyrical theme. Suddenly, a reverse cymbal swell sucks the listener into the the musical vortex of the primary groove with a full rock band accompanying a soaring tenor voice passionately crying out into the void. After the introductory chorus is complete, the single verse of the song is presented sans overdriven guitar. It has a new chordal layout and two sections that set up the return of the chorus. After this second chorus, the bridge kicks up the intensity, when the overdriven rhythm guitar presents more rhythmic activity, and the main lyrical message is delivered. Two more choruses with full band then follow. The final presentation of the chorus is in its stripped down form as it was at the beginning of the track.
