Rooster - Capricorn

    
The tenth sign of the Eastern zodiac is the character and is pronounced “Yu.” The symbolic animal of this tenth earthly stem is the rooster and is represented by the character . It is a yin symbol of the second trine and its fixed element is metal. Its influence on the celestial ecliptic extends from the 270th to the 300th degree, and it is the ruler of the eighth lunar month, which lasts from September 8 to October 7. The hours of the rooster are from five to seven in the evening.

The tenth sign of the Western zodiac is the symbol  that is commonly known as Capricorn. It is generally interpreted as being either a goat or a sea-goat that possesses the head and upper torso of a goat and the lower body and tail of a fish. Like its Eastern counterpart, this symbol is a negative yin symbol of the passive nocturnal feminine. Its elemental designation is earth and its quality is cardinal. It is also aligned to the same points of the ecliptic as the Eastern symbol of the rooster, however, it is associated annual time period extends from December 22 through January 19 in the tropical system and from January 15 through February 14 in the Jyotish system.
