On the Regenerative Powers of Artistic Creation
by Lee Duane FitzSimmons
The regenerative healing power of art exists on multiple levels. These levels are representative of all of the aspects of human reality where art plays an important role in the daily lives of everybody. Art heals. The creation, perception, and appreciation of art produce a spectacular effect on the mind and body that allows for the improvement of one's physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. The beauty of art renews the soul.
On one level, the perception and appreciation of art allows for the beholder to absorb the aesthetic appeal that emanates from the aura of an artistic creation. The beauty of a statue or the breathtaking image of a beautiful landscape can bring joy to the heart and elevate the senses in a way that brings emotional well-being and peace. The wonderful sound of music also elevates the spirit of the listener to a new dimension of awareness that often allows for new imaginative visions to develop. Artistic appreciation arouses every single aspect of the human senses in a way that causes the aura of an individual to glow with richer vibrations and shimmer with greater resonance.
On another level, the creation of art brings joy and fulfillment to the creator. This joy first arrives when the creator is busy imagining a new idea that will be used as a foundation for a new artistic project. As the creator is immersed in the creative process, this joy is strengthened as the new work of art is brought into existence and converted into its final form. This fulfillment is known when the work is beheld in its finished form by the creator. This fulfillment is known to an even greater degree when it is perceived and appreciated by others. A circle of aesthetic completion is made when the creator of a work of art is complimented for a job well done. This completion is an elegantly beautiful cycle of exquisite spiritual ecstasy.
This completion is the circle of life.
