This piece begins with the violoncellos and bass viols performing a pizzicato figure that sets up the ambience for the first section. The strings then begin playing a simple two-part figure that relies heavily on suspended tones, as the piano plays the clever melody that begins at a high point, quickly descends, and then repeats. The melody then repeats this whimsical trick down a few steps. Next, the melody is presented again with an enhanced accompaniment. The violoncellos and basses are now performing a root and fifth figure as the strings play the same two-part figure down an octave. The wooden flutes now emerge from the bushes of the forest and join in the revelry. Two of the wooden flutes perform whimsical arpeggiated figure in harmony, one on the left and one one the right of the sound stage. as the third joins the piano and plays the melody in unison along with it. A lone triangle also joins in the mirth.

In the developmental section, the full ensemble continues to play. The melody is now inverted and twice begins from a low point and ascends into the heights. It then repeats this pattern with a series of notes a few steps higher. After this middle section. The introduction presented at the beginning of the song returns and the entire first section is repeated in the recapitulation. After a brief coda, the piece ends.

The deep pizzicatto violoncellos and bass viols are the giant living trees of the magical forest. The piano is the faerie princess who is calling to all of the creatures of the forest for a celebration of mirth. The strings are the wood nymphs and water pixies that are gathering by the crystal brook that runs down the middle of the enchanted forest. The three wooden flutes are the three winged dryads that are the living muses of the mighty trees. The eldest and most powerful member of this sacred trio ascends into the air and joins the princess faerie in flight, as the two beckon to all of the other creatures to begin the celebration. The triangle is the young prince that is fortunate enough to be at the right place at the right time and gets to witness the spectacle first hand. Since he is a chosen one, his intuitive and empathic senses have naturally guided him to this magical moment...
